The LOEWE Center emergenCITY has published a trailer for the new digital learning game “Krisopolis” on its YouTube channel. The serious game is being developed by an interdisciplinary team of scientists and students and aims to teach crisis preparedness skills and how to deal with complex exceptional situations in an interactive way.
In “Krisopolis”, players take control of an avatar in a simulated city in which various crisis scenarios such as power outages, pandemics or supply shortages occur. They learn how to secure basic needs such as the supply of food and drinking water, health and social interaction under restricted conditions.
The game combines scientific findings from various disciplines, including computer science, cognitive science, urban planning and disaster management, with interactive game techniques. The aim is to use low-threshold access to raise awareness of crisis prevention, promote the ability to act and stimulate dialogue about resilience in a digitalized society.
The trailer is available now. The release of “Krisopolis” for smartphones and tablets on the Google, Apple and Microsoft stores is planned for the near future. The game is being further developed in the emergenCITY mission Serious Games.
