PhD students and companies gathered at the emergenCITY Lab on May 9 to exchange ideas and network. At the Meet & Greet event, doctoral students had the opportunity to talk to potential employers and find out about career opportunities. The companies and cooperation partners in reverse were able to get an idea of the interdisciplinary research on the resilience of critical infrastructures in cities from the potential junior staff.

Seven PhD students from the KRITIS Research Training Group and the LOEWE research center emergenCITY presented their expertise, topics and research approaches during a first block in the morning, moderated by the co-director of the emergenCITY Graduate School Michael Muma: Work on and with rescue robots, social science and technical research on social-technical infrastructures, the use of artificial intelligence and various research approaches to unmanned aerial systems were the main topics.

After this first input sessions, the networking fair kicked off with a lunchtime snack, where companies were able to talk to the PhD students in an informal setting. In the emergenCITY Lab, the doctoral students also presented current demonstrators and interim results of their research.

In a second block, moderated by emergenCITY researcher Syrine Adala, four employers presented their companies with the respective fields of activity, locations and entry opportunities. The spectrum ranged from technically oriented companies such as Boeing Deutschland GmbH and the European Space Agency (ESA) to the consulting firm HI Solutions and the Urban Software Institute. Following this second presentation phase, the participants continued to engage in lively discussions in individual conversations in a relaxed atmosphere.
