How can crisis preparedness be communicated in a low-threshold and realistic way?

At InnoDay 2025 at the Darmstadtium, organized by HIGHEST, the innovation and start-up center at TU Darmstadt, the LOEWE Center emergenCITY and the Digital Resilience Xchange (DiReX) application and transfer center presented their answers to this question: Krisopolis and eHUBcities – Blackout. Both serious games use realistic scenarios to teach appropriate behavioral strategies in emergency situations and provide ideas for crisis management. Visitors had the opportunity to test the games on site and get a first impression, while developers answered questions directly.

The games aroused great curiosity among the approximately 1,400 visitors; lively exchanges between the developers and the players demonstrated the interest in teaching sound behaviors in crisis situations.

InnoDay once again showed how important networking is for crisis preparedness, digitalization, and resilience. The response to the emergenCITY exhibits made it clear that both scientific exchange and practice-oriented formats such as serious games are becoming increasingly important. With many new contacts, ideas, and further discussions, InnoDay 2025 was once again a great success for emergenCITY.
