Since 2013, the Female Student Travel Award has been offering travel grants to outstanding female students, providing opportunities to network within the academic community and encouraging them to pursue careers in academia.

The Female Student Travel Award 2026 supports outstanding female Bachelor’s and Master’s students with a strong interest in research, innovation, and technology. Award winners receive full financial support to attend a high-level scientific conference of their choice, including travel, accommodation, and participation fees, in accordance with TU Darmstadt travel expense guidelines and the funding body of the chosen project.

The award is jointly offered by the Collaborative Research Center CROSSING, the LOEWE Center emergenCITY, the Hessian Center for Artificial Intelligence (hessian.AI), and the Cluster of Excellence Reasonable AI (RAI). It recognizes excellent academic performance and engagement in research areas such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, cryptography, resilience research, computer science, electrical engineering, and information technology.

Who Can Apply?

The call is open to advanced female Bachelor’s students and all female Master’s students at TU Darmstadt whose studies relate to the research topics of the participating centers. The award is based on institutional affiliation, not nationality — therefore, international students enrolled at TU Darmstadt are eligible to apply.

For information about eligibility at other universities and the related research topics, please refer to the websites of the participating research centers. For the two stipends offered by emergenCITY, only students of the Technical University of Darmstadt are eligible.
