emergenCITY researcher Bastian Bloessl was awarded the Ulrich L. Rohde Award of 2022 during this year’s Software Defined Radio Academy (SDRA) at HAM RADIO. The prize, presented for the first time this year and sponsored by Prof. Dr. Ulrich Rohde, DJ2LR, recognizes the advancement of software defined radio (SDR) technology, of which Rohde is considered the inventor. Bloessl was honored by Prof. Dr. Michael Hartje, DK5HH and Markus Heller, DL8RDS from the SDRA event team, as well as by the president of region 1 of the International Amateur Radio Union (IARU) Sylvain Azarian, F4GKR for his work on FutureSDR, a new programming framework for SDR applications. Related to this topic, Bloessl gave virtually the talk “Future SDR - An Async SDR Runtime for heterogeneous architecture” during the academy, and he presented the framework in a setup at the emergenCITY demonstrator fair.
